Rapport annuel 2023: Un réseau performant
En 2023, les Académies suisses des sciences ont pu faire valoir leurs points forts. Les six membres et les 125 plateformes, commissions, groupes de travail et curatoriums ont fourni un travail précieux dans leurs domaines thématiques et spécialisés, pilotés par l’association faîtière. Organisées en tant qu’union fédérale et dotées de comités travaillant de manière particulièrement efficace, les Académies mettent en valeur un réseau de plus de 100’000 scientifiques. C’est grâce à ce réseau flexible qu’elles sont en mesure de jeter des ponts entre la science et la société sur des thèmes centraux tels que la durabilité, la numérisation ou la santé. ‘We’re not making the most of this opportunity right now’: Claudia Röösli on Switzerland’s decision not to participate in Copernicus
The Federal Council has decided that Switzerland will not participate in the European Earth observation programme Copernicus during the 2028–2034 programme period either – despite repeated calls from Parliament and a recent study which concludes that the benefits of joining clearly outweigh the costs. Switzerland will therefore continue to use the freely available satellite data, but will remain excluded from participation in Copernicus services, tenders and committees. In an interview with the SATW, Dr Claudia Röösli, Head of the Earth Observation Applications and Services Group at the University of Zurich’s Remote Sensing Laboratories, analyses the decision. Understand, hack, change: 38 girls are taking the world of technology by storm
Their first week of the summer holidays in the lab rather than at the swimming pool: from 6 to 10 July, 38 girls from 13 cantons attended the Swiss TecLadies Camp in Brunnen and immersed themselves in the world of artificial intelligence, cybersecurity and ethical hacking. The camp aims to inspire young women to pursue technical careers, whilst dispelling persistent prejudices.
